Community Involvement & Memberships
Caldwell has done Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presentations for the North Carolina Bar Association, the Wake County Bar Association, and the Wake Forest University School of Law. He most recently presented Continuing Legal Education seminars upon the topics of mediations, Premarital Agreements, Child Custody, and practical tips for family law practitioners.
Caldwell has also been the Managing Editor for the North Carolina Bar Association’s primary family law publication, North Carolina Family Law Marital Claims (Second Edition). More recently Caldwell has been appointed to the Grievance Committee for the Tenth Judicial District in Wake County. The Grievance Committee is part of the policing mechanism for attorney behavior and investigates complaints filed against attorneys before making a recommendation to the North Carolina State Bar. As co-chair of the Alimony Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Family Law Council, Caldwell was involved, along with other members of the Committee, in identifying areas where the law can be improved upon based on the practical experience of the members and making suggestions to the Legislature through the North Carolina Bar Association for revisions to improve our family law statutes.
In addition to being involved in his professional community, Caldwell is a past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Lacy Foundation. The Lacy Foundation is a non-profit foundation that raised in excess of $500,000 in private donations over the last five years of his involvement with the Foundation to provide additional funding for teaching and other staffing positions for his children’s public school.
